Syracuse’s Treanor, North Carolina’s Sindall recognized
GREEENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse junior Kayla Treanor has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while North Carolina senior Caileigh Sindall earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Treanor scored seven points (five goals, two assists) in the Orange’s 16-8 win over No. 14 Louisville and matched that point total with three goals and four assists in a 14-12 win over No. 19 Albany. The Niskayuna, New York, native assisted on the game-winning goal versus Albany and has moved up to sixth place on Syracuse’s all-time list with 82 career assists.
Sindall keyed a Tar Heel defensive effort that limited third-ranked Duke to six goals (under half its season average entering the game) in a 12-6 win that gave UNC the ACC regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The Silver Spring, Maryland, native forced two turnovers and gathered three ground balls as the Tar Heels limited the Blue Devils to just two goals in the second half.
The ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship gets underway on Thursday, April 23, with all eight teams in action beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday’s winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday, April 24 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and the ACC Championship title game is set for Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
