ACC Announces Women’s Golfer Of The Month

Duke’s Maguire recognized after first-, fourth-place finishes

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke sophomore Leona Maguire has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October.

Maguire collected a first place and tied for a fourth place finish as Duke won both the team titles at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational and the Landfall Tradition. Maguire collected a 70.83 stroke average and did not shoot over par in the two tournaments, including four under-par rounds. In the Tar Heel Invitational, Maguire totaled rounds of 69, 72 and 71 for a four-under-par, 212. She registered birdies on holes No. 16 and No. 17 in the final round to win the individual title by one stroke. At The Landfall Tradition, Maguire collected rounds of 71, 72 and 70 for a three-under-par, 213. In nine rounds so far on the season, Maguire has posted nine even or under par rounds.

The two tournaments in which Maguire competed included a total of 25 teams ranked nationally (13 in the Tar Heel Invitational and 12 in The Landfall Tradition).
