ACC Announces Cross Country Performers of the Week

Georgia Tech’s Burnett, Boston College’ Hottenrott are recognized

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech’s Chris Burnett has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Boston College’s Laura Hottenrott was honored as the Women’s Performer of the Week for the second time this season.

Hottenrott was also named the NCAA Division I national cross country runner of the week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), marking the third time this season an ACC student-athlete has earned that award.

Georgia Tech’s Burnett led the Yellow Jackets to a second-place finish in the Gene Mullin Invitational with a 5K time 16:08.48. Burnett’s seventh-place individual finish in the 10-team race was a career best for the junior runner from Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Hottenrott outran the competition at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Cross Country Championships held at Boston’s Franklin Park. The Kassel, Germany, senior beat teammate Isabelle Kennedy to the finish line by two seconds to finish first among the 263-runner field. Hottenrott covered the 5K course in 17:39.1.
