ACC Announces Cross Country Performers of the Week

Louisville’s Kibichiy, NC State’s Frazier are honored


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville’s Edwin Kibichiy has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while NC State’s Ryen Frazier was honored as the Women’s Performer of the Week for the second time this season.

Frazier was also honored as the USTFCCCA National Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this fall.

Kibichiy led the Cardinals to a third-place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning. Kibichiy clocked a season-best time of 23:55.21, trailing the winner by less than four seconds.  Kibichiy has finished in the top three of all three of his races this fall. The Greater Louisville Classic sported a 24-team field with five ranked teams, including three among the top 10.

NC State’s Frazier won her second-straight race to open her collegiate career, as she bolted through the 5k course at the Notre Dame Invitational in 16:22.9 to finish with a four-second lead over the rest of the field. Frazier stayed behind New Mexico’s highly-ranked trio at the one-mile mark. By the 4,000m mark, the Raleigh, North Carolina, freshman passed the group and distanced herself from the rest of the pack. Frazier, No. 12 in the individual FloTrack rankings, beat out the nation’s first, second and eighth-ranked individuals at the race. Frazier help lead the 14th-ranked Wolfpack to a second-place finish with 74 points – 69 points better than third-place Notre Dame. The race featured four ranked teams among the 21-squad field, including No. 1 New Mexico.
