ACC Announces Baseball Players of the Week

North Carolina’s Warmoth, Boston College’s Dunn earn final honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina sophomore shortstop Logan Warmoth is the final Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the 2016 season, while Boston College junior Justin Dunn earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.

ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. This is the first career honor for both players.

Warmoth posted a .563/.650/.813 slash line over four games last week as UNC posted a 2-2 record versus conference opponents Notre Dame and No. 13 NC State. The Orlando, Florida, native reached base 13 times in 20 plate appearances with nine hits, four walks and eight RBIs. Warmoth matched a career high with four hits versus NC State on Friday before driving in a career-high four runs in Saturday’s 16-4 victory over the Wolfpack. He hit his fourth home run of the year and narrowly missed another. Warmoth was also solid defensively at shortstop and helped turn three double plays versus NC State.

Dunn threw his first career complete game to keep Boston College in the hunt for a berth in this week’s ACC Baseball Championship with a win over No. 22 Georgia Tech in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Eagles the won the second game to make the postseason for the first time since 2010. The Freeport, New York, junior tallied a career-high nine strikeouts and did not walk a batter for the first time as a starter while lowering his ERA to 1.35 (1.22 as a starter). Dunn allowed just eight Georgia Tech baserunners in the game.
