Wells Fargo’s Duke Energy Center to Feature ACC-Themed Light Shows


Fans will enjoy school spirit in the sky throughout ACC Football Championship Week. 

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced that as part of a 48-hour celebration of the 2013 ACC Dr Pepper Football Championship Game in Charlotte, Wells Fargo’s Duke Energy Center in Uptown Charlotte will be lit with a variety of ACC-themed light shows throughout the weekend. On the evening of Friday, Dec. 6, the building will feature an ACC light show to coincide with the league’s annual ACC Night of Legends event, which showcases football greats from ACC schools in addition to honoring the 2013 ACC football postseason award winners.

As part of an initiative to honor America, Wells Fargo’s Duke Energy Center will be lit in red, white and blue during the national anthem of the 2013 ACC Dr Pepper Football Championship game, which will take place immediately before the 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

During the game, the building will be lit in the ACC school colors of the participating teams when they score. To conclude the visual festivities, a special orange-themed light show will be exhibited to honor the winner whose final destination of the season will be the 2014 Discover Orange Bowl on Jan. 3 if not selected for the BCS National Championship Game.

2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship: The 2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be played Dec. 7 at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.  The game will kick off at 8 p.m. on ABC and will feature the Atlantic Division Champion, Florida State, against the Coastal Division Champion, Duke.  To purchase tickets, and for more information on the full weekend of ACC festivities, visit http://theacc.co/ACCFCG.
