Janowski, Burton Earn Recognition

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Virginia junior outside hitter/setter Tori Janowski has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while freshman outside hitter Jasmine Burton – also of the Cavaliers – has been named Freshman of the Week.

Janowski helped lead Virginia volleyball to its first 3-0 start since 2010, as she was named the Jefferson Cup’s Most Valuable Player. The Sterling, Va., native paced the team with 5.30 kills per set and six aces (0.60 SA/A), and was second on the team with a hitting percentage of .364. The junior recorded a game-high 20 kills against James Madison and fell one dig short of a double-double. Against Montana, Janowski notched a match-high 21 kills and a career-high five service aces.

Against Marshall, Burton led the Cavaliers with a .520 hitting percentage to go with 14 kills and one error on 25 total attempts. She also added a team-high five blocks. For the weekend, the White Hills, Calif., native was second on the team with 0.60 blocks per set and was third with 3.00 kills per set and a .338 hitting percentage.
