Tree Lighting Ceremony in Uptown Charlotte Starts ACC Championship Game Celebration

 

 

Tree lighting on Thursday, Dec. 5 kicks off Championship Weekend festivities.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference will join in Uptown Charlotte’s Holidays in the City festivities for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. 

The Charlotte Center City Partners event will be held at The Square, located at the intersection of Trade and Tryon Streets and will feature the ACC mascots along with holiday music, dancing, strolling performers and singers, and Santa Claus. All 14 mascots will ride in a trolley around the city leading up to their arrival in Uptown Charlotte. The ACC’s participation in the Tree Lighting Ceremony will the first of many events, leading up to Saturday’s Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game to be held at Bank of America Stadium.

“The tree lighting ceremony has long been a terrific event for the Charlotte community,” said Will Webb, executive director of Charlotte Sports Foundation, the local organizing committee.  “Adding the ACC mascots only boosts the excitement as we kick off the festivities for the 2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game.”

2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship: The 2013 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be played Dec. 7 in prime time at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.  The nationally televised game will feature the Atlantic Division Champion, Florida State, against the Coastal Division Champion.  To purchase tickets, and for more information on the full weekend of ACC festivities, visit http://theacc.co/ACCFCG.
