Seminoles’ Walch Tabbed Player of the Week
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson freshman right side hitter Leah Perri collected her second Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball weekly award, as she was named this week’s Freshman of the Week. Additionally, Florida State sophomore outside hitter Nicole Walch was recognized as Player of the Week after she helped her team to two key victories this past weekend.
Walch led Florida State in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage during a big weekend in which the Seminoles scored two crucial ACC victories over NC State and No. 12 North Carolina. Against the Tar Heels, Walch posted her fifth 20-kill game of the season against North Carolina, while swinging her 14th and 15th games of hitting double-digit kills. In addition, the Stuart, Fla., native posted hitting percentages of .457 against the Tar Heels and .526 against the Wolfpack. For the season, Walch is hitting .297 in conference matches and has helped the Seminoles pick up four victories against AVCA Top 25 opponents.
Perri collected her second weekly award after she tied a career high with 14 kills in matches against Virginia Tech and Virginia, and set a new career-best in attempts, with 36. For the weekend, she averaged 2.80 kills per set, 0.60 blocks per set, and hit .303. She is second on the Tigers with a 2.35 kills/set average and is first at .289 hitting. Perri was named the Freshman of the Week on Oct. 14.
