Syracuse’s Hehir, Florida State’s Quigley & Notre Dame’s Curran earn ACC Cross Country Honors


GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse’s Martin Hehir has been named the ACC Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week while Florida State’s Colleen Quigley and Notre Dame’s Kelly Curran were selected as the co-Performers of the Week for women’s cross country.

Hehir, a sophomore from Washingtonville, N.Y., finished 26th overall in a field of 287 runners at the Wisconsin Invitational in Evanston, Ill., Saturday. Hehir completed the 8k course with a time of 23:49, only 37 seconds behind the individual champion. Hehir’s performance led the 11th-ranked Orange to an eighth-place finish in a 35-team meet that included five top ten teams, 11 in the top 20 and 18 teams ranked overall.

Quigley, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., used a strong finishing kick to place fifth overall at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.  Quigley covered the 6,000-meter course in 20:13 and led the second-ranked Seminoles to a second-place finish in a 49-team field that included nine top 20 ranked teams.

Curran, a senior from Bloomington, Ill., finished 16th overall in a field of 288 runners in Saturday’s Wisconsin Invitational in Evanston, Ill. Cullen completed the 6k course in 20:07 and led the 28th-ranked Irish to a 13th-place finish in a 37-team field that included seven teams ranked in the top 10 and nine in the top 20.
