Syracuse’s Martin Hehir, Boston College’s Liv Westphal named ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse’s Martin Hehir and Boston College’s Liv Westphal have been named ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week following their competition this past weekend.

Hehir, a sophomore from Washingtonville, N.Y., finished third overall in a field of 140 runners at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown/Boston College Invite Friday on the 8k course at Boston’s Franklin Park. Hehir completed the course with a time of 24:12, just one second behind the individual champion. Hehir’s finish led the seventh-ranked Orange to a second-place finish in a 13-team meet that included No.8 Wisconsin, No. 12 Oregon and No. 25 Providence.

Westphal took third overall in the field of 146 runners at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown/Boston College Invite Friday on the five-kilometer course at Boston’s Franklin Park. A junior from Limoges, France, Westphal finished with a time of 17:00, just nine seconds behind the lead runner. Westphal’s finish led the 24th-ranked Eagles to a fourth-place finish in a 14-team meet that included some of the top teams in the country, including No. 1 Providence, No. 3 Oregon and No. 9 Cornell.
