Syracuse’s Geyer Named ACC Field Hockey Player Of The Week

Senior midfielder leads win over nation’s 7th-ranked team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse senior Leonie Geyer has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after leading the sixth-ranked Orange to a pair of nonconference wins, including a victory over No. 7 Massachusetts.

The midfielder from Neuss, Germany, scored the game-winning goal in both last Friday’s 2-1 win over UMass and in Sunday’s 1-0 shutout of Ohio State as Syracuse extended its home winning streak to 38 games. Geyer netted the go-ahead goal against the Minutewomen in the 45th minute, and her goal against Ohio State with 4:36 left to play broke a scoreless tie.

Geyer now has four goals and six assists for 14 points on the season.
