SU Texas Bowl Champs, Hunt Named MVP


HOUSTON, Texas (SUAthletics.com) —Terrel Hunt dove into the end zone to give Syracuse a 14-3 lead over Minnesota at the end of the third quarter in the Texas Bowl. Hunt has rushed for 49 yards and completed 16-of-22 passes 152 yards.

Jerome Smith leads SU rushers with 66 yards on the ground and Ashton Broyld and Jarrod West are the main targets for Hunt, catching four passes for 41 yards and five passes for 38 yards, respectively.

The Orange has used its run and passing games equally, covering 153 yards on the ground and 152 yards in the air, both of which top the Gophers' totals.

After rushing nine yards on fourth and long to put Syracuse in the red zone, Hunt completed the scoring drive with a five-yard run into the end zone to give the Orange a 14-3 advantage with 2:57 remaining in the third quarter.
