Postseason Honors Continue to Flood @ACCWLAX Programs All-America Team and All-Inside Lacrosse Team named

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Atlantic Coast Conference women’s lacrosse programs continue to rake in postseason honors as LaxPower and Inside Lacrosse recently named their All-America Team and All-IL Team, respectively.

The ACC accounted for 23 of the 48 overall selections to the LaxPower All-America Team, including 12 of the 16 honorees named to the First Team. 2014 NCAA Champion Maryland led the way with four first team selections, six overall, highlighted by Tewaaraton Award winner sophomore midfielder Taylor Cummings. North Carolina and Virginia followed with four each, Syracuse with three, and Boston College and Notre Dame rounded out the ACC’s haul with two All-America selections apiece.

The All-IL Team is comprised of the nation’s top five attackers, five midfielders, five defenders and one goalkeeper. Included in the ACC’s 10 overall honorees were four from Maryland, two from Syracuse and one from Boston College, Duke, North Carolina and Notre Dame.

It was another banner year for ACC women’s lacrosse as it saw a record seven teams selected to the NCAA Championship field. Six of the seven teams advanced to the quarterfinals, while three ACC teams earned berths in the final four. The title game was an all-ACC affair for the sixth time in tournament history, with Maryland topping Syracuse 15-12 to collect its 11th NCAA Championship.
