Syracuse’s Pollitt and NC State’s Taylor earn weekly honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse’s Donald Pollitt has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Men’s Performer of the Week, while NC State’s Tremanisha Taylor earned ACC Women’s Performer of the Week honors following their outstanding efforts in last weekend’s 120th Penn Relays.
Pollitt, a junior from Hazelton, Pa., posted an ACC-leading time of 13.73 in the 110 hurdles en route to a second-place finish in the 25-runner field. Pollitt’s time is the 11th best in the nation and the fourth-best in the East region this season.
Taylor successfully defended her Penn Relays shot put title with a new NC State outdoor school-record a throw of 57-9 (17.60m). Taylor's record-setting heave, which also ranks second in the NCAA women's outdoor shot put this year, is the ninth-best all-time at the Penn Relays. The Henderson, N.C., native also placed second in the discus with a throw of 176-4 on day two of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. That distance ranks 24th nationally.
