LEWISVILLE, NC – Brian Morrison, the ACC’s associate commissioner for men’s basketball communications is the winner of this year’s Marvin ‘Skeeter’ Francis Award. The Francis Award recognizes individuals for distinguished service to, or coverage of, the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Morrison is in his 30th year at the ACC, where he is responsible for all of the conference’s media dealings concerning men’s basketball. Those responsibilities run from planning the pre-season Operation Basketball media day, to credentialing all media for the annual post-season ACC Tournament. In between, Morrison oversees the writing, editing and publication of the men’s basketball media guide and the keeping of official statistics for the conference. He also moderates the weekly conference call between ACC coaches and the media.

Morrison was graduated from Catawba College and attended graduate school for sports administration at Western Illinois University. Before he came to the ACC, Morrison served as sports information director at Catawba (1981-1983) and at California-San Diego (1984).

The Award is named after Marvin ‘Skeeter’ Francis, who served as the longtime sports information director at Wake Forest and the first administrator of the ACC’s media services division.
