GREENSBORO (theACC.com) – Virginia junior midfielder Morgan Brian and Virginia Tech senior goalkeeper Dayle Colpitts have been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Co-Players of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office. The honor is Brian’s second of her career as she was named Co-Player of the Week on Aug. 27, while Colpitts earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Brian led No. 1 Virginia to a pair of wins over Top-15 foes to remain the only unbeaten and untied team in the nation at 14-0-0. Brian scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 double overtime thriller over No. 9/5 Notre Dame on Oct. 10. It was her third game-winner of the season and seventh of her career. Three days later, Brian helped the Cavaliers to a 2-0 win at No. 14/11 Wake Forest. Brian ranks second in the league with 26 points on nine goals and eight assists.
Colpitts was a stalemate in goal for the Hokies on Oct. 13 as she earned her fifth shutout in ACC play in the form of a 1-0 victory of the Fighting Irish. Colpitts faced 14 shots and was credited with three saves including a diving stop of a point-blank shot by ND’s Lauren Bohaboy in the 88th minute. The native of New Brunswick, Canada, is VT’s career leader in minutes (6,158), wins (38) and shutouts (25). Colpitts has allowed just four goals in ACC play this season.
