GREENSBORO (theACC.com) – Boston College sophomore forward McKenzie Meehan has been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office. It is her first player of the week honor of her career.
Meehan scored four goals, including two game-winning strikes to help the Eagles to back-to-back ACC victories last week. The Smithfield, R.I., native began the week netting the game-winner in the 23rd minute to give Boston College a 1-0 win over No. 9/10 Wake Forest on Sept. 26.
Three days later, Meehan scored all three goals in Eagles’ 3-2 road win at NC State (Sept. 29). Meehan tallied two of her three strikes early in the first half in the fourth and 14th minutes, before putting away the game winner at the 60:07 mark.
The hat trick at NC State marked the second of her career. Her first career hat trick came earlier this season in a win over Hofstra on Sept. 1. Meehan owns a league-leading 10 goals for the season, including six game winners.
ACC play continues on Thursday, Oct. 3.
