ACC Football Power Poll

The ACC Power Poll is compiled each week by ACC Digital Network host Jeff Fischel. Give Jeff your feedback via Twitter (@JeffFischel)!

Previous Weeks: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

SCHOOL (Record)
1. --- | Last: #1

Florida State (5-0)
Last: W 43-3 vs. Wake Forest | Next: 10/11 @ Syracuse Jeff's Take: No. 5 does this. And the other no. 5 does that. After all of the upsets, it seems the college football intelligentsia has stopped trying to come up with reasons to knock this team—for now.

2. --- | Last: #2

Clemson (3-2)
Last: W 41-0 vs. NC State | Next: 10/11 vs. Louisville Jeff's Take: Had this discussion after Saturday’s game: Were Georgia & Florida State lucky to have played Clemson before Deshaun Watson became the starter?

3. 2 | Last: #5

Georgia Tech (5-0)
Last: W 38-17 vs. Miami | Next: 10/11 vs. Duke Jeff's Take: The Yellow Jackets are 5-0 and in the Top 25. They played a perfect game of keepaway Saturday night versus Miami, running 72 offensive plays to the Canes’ 44.

4. 1 | Last: #3

Virginia (4-2)
Last: W 24-19 vs. Pitt | Next: BYE Jeff's Take: Mike London is happy. Kevin Parks is happy. All the Hoos in Hooville are happy with the Cavs 4-2 start.

5. 1 | Last: #6

Louisville (5-1)
Last: W 28-6 vs. Syracuse | Next: 10/11 @ Clemson Jeff's Take: A promise: the Cardinals will move up to no. 2 in the power poll if they can upset Clemson. The problem is that I see Vic Beasley & Co. doing more of this to UofL’s offensive line.

6. 2 | Last: #8

Virginia Tech (4-2)
Last: W 34-17 vs. North Carolina | Next: BYE Jeff's Take: The Hokies are still in a great position to win the Coastal assuming it gets as wild as we’ve come to expect. For a true freshman receiver, Isaiah Ford is about as good as it gets.

7. 3 | Last: #4

NC State (4-2)
Last: L 41-0 vs. Clemson | Next: 10/11 vs. Boston College Jeff's Take: A week after picking apart Florida State, Jacoby Brissett was under constant pressure from Clemson, and his receivers never got separation. Jekyll and Hyde indeed.

8. 1 | Last: #9

Duke (4-1)
Last: BYE | Next: 10/11 @ Georgia Tech Jeff's Take: Georgia Tech & Virginia are the next 2 weeks. If past is prologue, Duke wins both and we’re headed for another year of Coastal chaos.

9. 2 | Last: #11

Boston College (3-2)
Last: BYE | Next: 10/11 @ NC State Jeff's Take: I admire the BC Interruption blog for going all Shawshank Redemption looking ahead to this week’s game vs NC State. Makes me want to sit back and listen to this.

10. --- | Last: #10

Pitt (3-3)
Last: L 24-19 vs. Virginia | Next: BYE Jeff's Take: The Panthers are now officially free fallin' after 3 losses in games they thought they should have won. I honestly didn’t see this coming. But they won’t back down.

11. 4 | Last: #7

Miami (3-3)
Last: L 28-17 vs. Georgia Tech | Next: 10/11 vs. Cincinnati Jeff's Take: Clinton Portis talked me out of worrying about Miami’s run defense at the start of the season. CP, you done me wrong! It’s still a problem.

12. --- | Last: #12

Syracuse (2-3)
Last: L 28-6 vs. Louisville | Next: 10/11 vs. Florida State Jeff's Take: Florida State and Clemson are 2 of the next 3 weeks. For a team that’s already 2-3, that leaves a small margin for error to get to a bowl game.

13. 1 | Last: #14

Wake Forest (2-4)
Last: L 43-3 vs. Florida State | Next: BYE Jeff's Take: Yep, the Deacs are no longer no. 14. I’ll give Dave Clawson a lot of credit for making this team tougher in a few short weeks, and managing the talent smartly.

14. 1 | Last: #13

North Carolina (2-3)
Last: L 34-17 vs. Virginia Tech | Next: 10/11 @ Notre Dame Jeff's Take: I was a lone voice early in the season fretting about this team. I think the talent is there, and I hope, like last year, the Tar Heels can make a 2nd-half run.
