Georgia Tech Men’s Golf Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

 

Ollie Schniederjans finishes second in individual competition

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Georgia Tech men’s golf team advanced to match play competition as the stroke play portion of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship wrapped up Monday evening at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Yellow Jackets shot 1-over par 841 to finish fifth and advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Oklahoma State on Tuesday.

Florida State finished 24th with a 30-over 870, and Virginia Tech shot 36-over 876 to place 28th.

Ollie Schniederjans, the ACC Golfer of the Year, finished the stroke play portion of the championship tied for first with Stanford’s Cameron Wilson. Both posted pars on the first two playoff holes, before Wilson birdied the third hole to claim the individual title.

Virginia’s Denny McCarthy (t-6th) and Georgia Tech’s Seth Reeves (t-6th) also posted top-10 finishes.
