Duke Ranks 2nd, Notre Dame 6th, Maryland 8th and North Carolina 12th
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball teams are ranked in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25, led by No. 2 Duke.
The Blue Devils, who were picked as the preseason ACC favorite in both the Blue Ribbon Panel Preseason Poll and the ACC Head Coaches Preseason Poll, amassed 860 points, behind only Connecticut – the preseason’s unanimous No. 1.
Notre Dame is ranked No. 6 in the AP poll, followed closely by Maryland at No. 8 and North Carolina at No. 12. ACC teams also receiving votes in the poll were Georgia Tech and Florida State.
The four ACC teams among the Top 25 is tied for second among all conferences with the Big 12 and the Big Ten, with the SEC posting a conference-best six teams in the Top 25. However, the ACC boasts the most teams in the Top 10 of the AP poll, with three.
The 2013-14 regular season tips off on Nov. 8-10, with all 15 teams in action.
