2013 All-ACC Academic Women’s Soccer Team announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State senior defender Kassey Kallman has been named the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and heads up the sport’s All-ACC Academic Team, as announced Tuesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Kallman, a business management major with a 3.806 cumulative grade point average, is a two-time Academic All-American and a three-time All-ACC selection. She earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named the ACC Women’s Soccer Championship’s Most Valuable Player in 2013. Kallman earned NSCAA First Team All-America honors, was a finalist for the Honda Award and a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy following the 2013 season in which she helped the Seminoles to a school-record 23 wins, including 10 in ACC play, and an appearance in the College Cup final.

Kallman is a four-time ACC All-Academic Team selection.

Along with Kallman, six student-athletes claimed their fourth straight ACC All-Academic Team honor, including Duke’s Kaitlyn Kerr, Mollie Pathman and Laura Weinberg, and Wake Forest’s Aubrey Bledsoe and Katie Stengel.

All 14 schools that compete in women’s soccer are represented on this year’s All-Academic Team, which includes seven student-athletes that earned NSCAA All-America honors in 2013. Six members of the ACC All-Academic Team were named to either 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Team or the NSCAA Scholar All-America Team.

The ACC All-Academic Team also includes 21 players that were named to the first, second or third All-ACC team and four members of the ACC All-Freshman team.
