Florida State Captures Two ACC Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Miami, Notre Dame Nab One Award Apiece

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State swimming and diving senior Tom Neubacher and teammate Connor Knight helped the Seminoles capture two ACC Swimming and Diving weekly awards, as each turned in solid performances in a win over Alabama this past weekend. Also earning weekly honors was Notre Dame’s Emma Reaney and Miami’s Kara McCormack after strong showings of their own.

Neubacher, who earned ACC Male Diver of the Week honors, played a vital role in the 179-121 victory over the Crimson Tide. The Seminoles went one-two on the 1-meter before sweeping the 3-meter. On the 3-meter, Neubacher was over 42 points ahead of his teammate Mikey Lewark, after beating him on the 1-meter by 55 points with a 372.95.

The ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, Knight, was clutch in the fly events, contributing a pair of dominating wins in both distances. The Juno Beach, Fla., native was just under three seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer in the 200, while posting a two-second win in the 100. He was also the flyer in the 200 medley relay that edged out Alabama for the win.

Reaney grabbed ACC Female Swimmer of the Week after she opened up her junior campaign in fine fashion by winning two individual events and two relays over the weekend. The Lawrence, Kan., native won the 100 breast (1:00.94 – NCAA B) and 100 fly (55.03) against Auburn and Indiana, while she helped the 200 medley relay squad (1:42.84) place second and took second in the 200 free (1:50.40). At the Dennis Stark Relays that incorporates unusual relays to create an all-relay meet, Reaney finished first in two events, second in two and third in one.

Following a performance in which she captured first place in the both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, McCormack earned ACC Female Diver of the Week. The junior from Austin, Texas, outpaced her 3-meter competition by a 60-point margin with a score of 360.23 and took a close 1-meter title over teammate Thea Vock with a 311.55.
