This Week Spotlights Coaching Legend Bobby Bowden, Virginia Tech Quarterback Logan Thomas and Wake Forest Flanker Michael Campanaro
Charlotte, N.C. – Raycom Sports’ multi-Emmy Award-winning summer television series, “Havoline Football Saturdays,” continues its tenth season with Episode 5 this weekend. The series, with six one-hour episodes, is syndicated in 75 markets throughout the country.
This week’s show features host Tim Brando sitting down with coaching legend Bobby Bowden in a special two-part interview. Bowden, who led Florida State to two national championships, talks about his coaching career and legacy in college football. The all-time wins leader tells us about his early years growing up in Alabama fighting rheumatic fever, which left him confined to his bed for a year, to his playing days at Howard College and coaching at Samford with some unsuspected help from NFL legend Bart Starr.
From the family home in Panama City, Florida, we see 4 generations of Bowdens and a friendly golf game between Bobby and his sons. Also hear what his expectations are as he prepares to return to campus in Tallahassee for the first time since he left the sidelines.
Then spend time with Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas. The dual threat senior runs the Hokie offense and sets the tone with his athleticism. Learn how he changed from the #1 high school tight end recruit to an All-ACC signal caller. While the Hokies are his football family, Thomas spends most days with his close friend and cousin Zach McCray, who is a tight end at VT. Shoot around with Thomas and McCray as they talk about their time in Blacksburg.
We also head home to Clarksville, Maryland with Wake Forest’s Michael Campanaro. The flanker has developed into one of the most exciting playmakers in the ACC. See how his support system begins with his family, from meals at his parents’ café to training with his brothers.
