GEENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke sophomore midfielder Toni Payne has been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the week, as announced Tuesday by the league office. It is the first player of the week honor of her career.

Payne registered five points on two goals and one assist to help Duke to a pair of wins at No. 18/13 West Virginia (3-0) and over UAB (3-1). The Birmingham, Alabama, native gave the Blue Devils a second-half goal en route to the shutout of the Mountaineers and their first win of the 2014 campaign. She followed that performance up with a game-winning goal and an assist on the third tally against the previously unbeaten Blazers.

The ACC has six teams ranked in the latest Soccer America poll (No. 2 Florida State, No. 3 Virginia, No. 5 Virginia Tech, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 22 Duke), and continues play tonight with Miami hosting Jacksonville at 6 p.m.
