NEW ORLEANS (goduke.com) -- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named recent Duke graduate Curtis Beach the 2014 Indoor Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, marking the second time in his career that Beach received a scholar-athlete of the year honor.

Beach, a psychology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.45, concluded the final indoor season of his college career in spectacular fashion, claiming the NCAA Indoor Championships heptathlon title in front of a hometown crowd in Albuquerque, N.M. Also named the 2014 Indoor Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA earlier in the season, Beach earned his first scholar-athlete of the year honor from the USTFCCCA in 2012.
