Clemson’s McNamara, Maryland’s Mullins Earn ACC Men’s Soccer Honors


Pair named ACC Co-Players of the Week for efforts vs. nationally-ranked league teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Clemson midfielder Thomas McNamara and Maryland forward Patrick Mullins have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Players of the Week.

McNamara, a graduate student from West Nyack, N.Y., scored a goal to help the 17th-ranked Tigers to a 2-1 upset win over No. 12 North Carolina on Oct. 8. On Friday, he assisted on Clemson’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with No. 15 Wake Forest. McNamara is Clemson’s leading scorer this season with six goals and six assists for 18 points.

Mullins, a senior from New Orleans, had a hand in all of the No. 5 Terrapins’ goals during a rugged road stretch that produced a 1-1 tie at second-ranked Notre Dame and a 3-3 draw at 23rd-ranked Virginia. Mullins scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute at Notre Dame and had a pair of goals and an assist at Virginia as Maryland remained unbeaten in ACC play. Mullins, who leads the Terrapins with eight goals on the year, posted his assist against Virginia on a pass to Tsubasa Endoh just 1:11 into the match. It was Maryland’s quickest goal of the season thus far.
