GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia sophomore forward Brittany Ratcliffe has been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office. The honor is Ratcliffe’s first of her career.
Ratcliffe totaled six points on three goals, while leading top-ranked Virginia to a pair of road wins at NC State (5-0) and No. 4/4 North Carolina (2-0).The sophomore from Williamstown, N.J., came off the bench to score two goals, 83 seconds apart, against the Wolfpack, before earning the starting nod and scoring the game winner at UNC in the 13th minute.
Ratcliffe is tied for fourth place in the ACC with 11 goals, and owns 23 points total (11g, 1a) to stand sixth on the ACC’s points list.
The win at Chapel Hill gave the Cavaliers their school-record 16th consecutive win, while the 2-0 decision marked just the second time since 1986 the Tar Heels have lost by multiple goals. Virginia’s wins last weekend in the Tar Heel state made the Cavaliers the first team to win at all four North Carolina schools (Duke, Wake Forest, UNC and NC State) in the same season.
