Brenner Pushes Tigers to an Undefeated Week
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson senior setter Hannah Brenner and Virginia freshman outside hitter Haley Kole have earned this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball weekly awards, as Brenner took home Player of the Week honors and Kole was named the Freshman of the Week.
Brenner led the Tigers to an undefeated weekend (3-0) and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big Orange Bash. For the weekend, Brenner averaged 11.61 assists, 3.31 digs and 0.39 aces. Against Furman, the Orrville, Ohio, native tallied the third triple-double in school history with 50 assists, 19 digs and 10 kills. In addition, she recorded the 3,000th assist of her career against the Paladins.
Kole, who notched the Cavaliers’ second consecutive Freshman of the Week honor, led Virginia with 49 kills (3.77 per set) in three matches and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Pepperdine Invitational. Her weekend was highlighted by her 19 kills in a come-from-behind five-set win over UC-Santa Barbara.
