Freshman named conference Golfer of the Month for February

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State freshman Matilda Castren has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for February.

Castren won the first individual championship of her career at the Florida State Match-Up, finishing a career-best 10 under par. The first-year Seminole set personal records for single round scores with a 68 in both the first and second rounds. Her three-round tournament score (206) and number of strokes under par (10) were also personal bests.

For the month, Castren stood 11 strokes under par in five rounds played and scored at or below par on four of  those five rounds. Her highest single-round score in her two January tournaments was an even par 72. She led the Seminoles to a second-place team finish at Florida Challenge, where she tied for a second-place individual finish. The Seminoles placed third at the Florida State Match-Up behind Castren’s first career individual championship.
