@ACCWSoccer: Eight Named to the NSCAA All-America Team

 

The ACC places five on the First Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Eight Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer student-athletes have been named All-America by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, including five on the First Team, the most of any conference.

ACC Defensive Player of the Year Florida State senior defender Kassey Kallman, ACC Offensive Player of the Year North Carolina senior midfielder Crystal Dunn, Virginia junior midfielder Morgan Brian and sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak, and Virginia Tech senior forward Jazmine Reeves were all named to the NSCAA All-America First Team.

The honor marks the third time in Dunn’s career and the second time in Brian’s career each has been named First Team All-America. The First Team selections are the first of Doniak’s, Kallman’s and Reeves’ careers.

Kallman, Dunn, Brian, Doniak and Reeves are also semifinalists for the prestigious Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy.

Collecting All-America Second Team honors were Florida State junior midfielder Dagny Brynjarsdottir, while Wake Forest senior goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe and Virginia junior midfielder Danielle Colaprico were named to the All-America Third Team.

All eight All-America selections were also named to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region First Team. The ACC collected 25 All-Southeast Region Team honors, including five selections from Florida State and Virginia. Boston College, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest followed with three each. Notre Dame had two named all-region, and Duke had one honoree.

It was a historic year for ACC women’s soccer, as it saw eight teams selected for the NCAA Championship, including a NCAA-record all four No. 1 seeds. All eight teams advanced to the third round, while an NCAA-record six teams earned a berth in the Quarterfinals. The ACC had three teams in the Women’s College Cup for the second time in league history.
