League finishes with four ranked teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Led by national champion Notre Dame, four Atlantic Coast Conference teams are ranked in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25.

League squads claimed the top three spots in the poll, with No. 1 Notre Dame at the top after winning the first NCAA title in program history with a 2-1 victory over Maryland in the College Cup final. The Terrapins, who won the ACC Championship, sit at No. 2 in the poll. Virginia, which also advanced to the College Cup, finishes the season ranked No. 3 in the country. No. 11 Wake Forest rounds out the ranked ACC teams.

It was a marquee year for ACC men’s soccer as a NCAA-best six league teams earned bids to the NCAA Tournament, three teams advanced to the College Cup, and Notre Dame won the national championship. It marked the third time in the last six years that the ACC sent three teams to the College Cup, while the title was the sixth in the past nine years for the ACC and the 16th in conference history.
