Proceeds from race in Uptown Charlotte will benefit Wounded Warrior Project.
CHARLOTTE, NC – The third annual Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Chase 5K presented by Harris Teeter will take place the morning of Saturday, Dec 7. The race will serve as the official kickoff of the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship day festivities.
Registration will be $20 in advance and $25 the day of the race and participants are free to walk, jog or run as they are able throughout the race. An ACC t-shirt is included with all advanced registrations and will be available for day-of registrations while supplies last.
Race-day registration, packet pick-up and chip pick-up will take place 7:00 – 7:45 am. The race will start at 8 a.m. with the start/finish line located at the intersection of 3rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Uptown Charlotte. Gold’s Gym will lead participants through a Zumba routine before the race. ACC mascots and cheerleaders will be on hand to root on runners throughout the course.
Post-race celebration will take place at the Wells Fargo Plaza on South Tryon Street between East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 3rd street. The post-race party will feature the awards ceremony, food, beverages, live entertainment and all of the ACC mascots and cheerleaders. In addition, Gold’s Gym will offer chair massages to finishers.
The overall male, female and wheelchair racers will each receive a medal, a $50 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods, a $100 gift card to Harris Teeter as well as a prize pack from the ACC. Winners in each age group will receive a medal and a gift card from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

All of the proceeds from the ACC Championship Chase 5K presented by Harris Teeter along with any direct donations will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as part of the 2013 ACC Football conference-wide, season-long initiative to honor the nation’s military. WWP exists to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred service-connected injuries on or after Sept. 11, 2001. With the goal of making a positive, lasting impact on the lives of injured service members, WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs.
