Burke, Peters and Williams represent the ACC on the six-member first team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke junior center Elizabeth Williams, senior forward Haley Peters and NC State senior guard Kody Burke have been selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District 3 Women’s Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
These teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. All three earned first team accolades and will be included on the Academic All-America ballot.
Peters, who is out of Red Bank, N.J., has started each of her 17 contests played for the third-ranked Blue Devils on the season. The 6-3 post player has averaged 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. The two-time All-ACC selection holds a 3.8 grade-point average, while obtaining a degree in Political Science along with a minor in English.
A product of Virginia Beach, Va., Williams owns averages of 14.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals. The 6-3 center ranks 14th nationally and No. 1 in the ACC in blocks and has swatted at least one shot in all 90 contests since arriving at Duke three years ago. A two-time All-America, Williams is majoring in Psychology and holds a 3.43 grade-point average.
Burke, a two-time Academic All-American with a 3.93 GPA in Business Administration is currently averaging 15.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the field.
