GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Eric Knowles has been named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and his Wolfpack teammate Holt Gray has been selected as the Diver of the Week. On the Women’s side, NC State’s Kylee Alons has been named Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and Virginia’s Sydney Dusel has been tabbed Diver of the Week.
Knowles shined in NC State’s 185-100 win over No. 14 Virginia. The sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, won both of his races, touching the wall first in the 500 free (4:23.48) and the 1000 free.
Gray had a strong performance in the Wolfpack’s victory against Virginia. The sophomore from Raleigh, North Carolina, finished in the top two in both of his diving events. Gray took first in the 3-meter competition with a winning score of 372.10 and placed second on the 1-meter with a score of 330.60.
Alons was key in NC State’s 167-127 win over No. 5 Virginia. The freshman from Fort Collins, Colorado, placed in the top three in each of her three races. Alons won the 100 fly (52.93) and 200 fly (1:57.03), clocking NCAA provisional times in both races, and adding a third-place finish in the 100 free.
Dusel turned in two excellent performances for Virginia in a 172-115 win over North Carolina and a tough loss to NC State. The junior from Naperville, Illinois, won the 1-meter competition at both meets, and placed second on the 3-meter in both meets.
