GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Kylee Alons has been named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and Wolfpack teammate Madeline Kline has been tabbed Diver of the Week. NC State’s Andreas Vazaios has been selected as the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and Virginia Tech’s Ben Schiesl has been named Diver of the Week.
Alons went undefeated in NC State’s 197-97 win over No. 24 North Carolina. The freshman from Fort Collins, Colorado, won the 100 free (49.00), 100 fly (53.63) and 200 fly (1:57.94), turning in NCAA provisional times in all three.
Kline had a strong performance in NC State’s victory over North Carolina. The junior from Damascus, Maryland, placed first on the 3-meter, and took second in the 1-meter competition. Kline recorded a 269.40 on the 1-meter, and a 283.50 on the 3-meter.
Vazaios won all three of his races in a 193-101 win over North Carolina. The senior from Athens, Greece, took first in the 100 back (47.53) and 200 IM (1:46.03), clocking NCAA provisional times in both. Vazaios also was part of the first-place 200 medley relay team, along with fellow Wolfpack swimmers Daniel Graber, Justin Ress and Cobe Garcia.
Schiesl shined in wins over Cincinnati (185-108) and George Washington (197-91). The senior from Fairfax, Virginia, won the 1-meter competition with a score of 398.05, and took second on the 3-meter after posting a 376.30.
