GREENSBORO, N.C. - Fourteen Atlantic Coast Conference football players have been named to the 2018 Maxwell Award watch list, announced Monday by the Maxwell Football Club. The ACC and Southeastern Conference tied for the most selections of any conference.  

The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937.  Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.

Defending ACC Champion Clemson and Alabama led the nation with the most Maxwell candidates.  Florida State, Georgia Tech and Miami each had two selections.  Boston College, Duke, NC State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech each had one.
