NEW LONDON, N.C. (theACC.com) – With nine teams shooting under-par performances on Friday, Georgia Tech sits atop the leaderboard after the first round of the 2018 ACC Men’s Golf Championship at Old North State Club.
Shooting 12-under 276, Georgia Tech holds a one stroke lead over Notre Dame. Clemson is three strokes back in third place, while Wake Forest (-7), Florida State (-6), North Carolina (-5), Virginia (-4), NC State (-3), and Duke (-2) also shot under par on Friday.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Luke Schniederjans, who carded a 7-under 65. Chris Petefish (-3), and Tyler Strafaci (-2) also were under par for Georgia Tech, and Andy Ogletree rounded out the team scoring with a 72 on the day.
Georgia Tech’s Schniederjans and Virginia’s Danny Walker registered the top scores of the round, shooting 7-under 65. Schniederjans had eight birdies, while Walker eagled the par-four 13th to go along with six birdies.
