Fry and Lund Earn ACC Volleyball Weekly Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame’s Sam Fry garnered ACC Volleyball Player of the Week honors, and Pittsburgh’s Kayla Lund was selected as the Freshman of the Week.
 
Fry and the Irish earned wins over No. 23 Michigan State, Southern Illinois and Central Michigan at home during the Shamrock Invitational Tournament, sweeping all three. The senior middle blocker from Cincinnati was named the tournament MVP, recording a team-best hitting percentage of .510, and racking up 29 kills and 14 blocks on the weekend.
 
Lund played a key role in Pitt’s undefeated weekend, as the Panthers won every set against UC Santa Barbara, Eastern Kentucky and Cleveland State. The rookie outside hitter from Pasadena, California, posted 26 kills with a hitting percentage of .340, to go with 21 digs and five total blocks during Pitt’s three matches.
 
ACC Volleyball returns to action when No. 19 Florida State travels to No. 3 Florida on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match.
