2017 ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge Matchups Set

The Atlantic Coast and Big Ten Conferences have finalized pairings for next year’s event

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast and Big Ten Conferences announced the matchups for the 2017 ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge. The annual challenge, which debuted last season, will feature eight schools from each conference, playing four games each at four campus sites over a three-day period from Feb. 17-19, 2017.

Four ACC schools will play host to the Challenge: Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and NC State. Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Virginia Tech are the other four participants in the Challenge. Big Ten competitors include Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue.

The ACC recorded a 12-20 record in the 2016 Challenge, with six of the eight ACC teams participating earning wins.

The Big Ten and ACC offices collaborate to determine the schedule each season. In addition, the official title of the Challenge rotates each year. The 2017 event will be referred to as the ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge and will continue to mirror the official title of the two conferences’ Challenge agreements for men's basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball.

Game times, as well as television coverage, will be announced at a later date. The complete schedule of ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge matchups can be found below.
