2015 All-ACC Academic Women’s Swimming & Diving Team Announced

Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville junior Kelsi Worrell has been named the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the 2015 All-ACC Academic Women’s Swimming & Diving Team, as announced today.

An exercise science major from Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Worrell captured two individual national championships in the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2015 NCAA Championships, as she set an American, NCAA and U.S. Open record with her 100 fly swim. In total, Worrell captured six All-America accolades at the NCAAs and grabbed six All-ACC honors, including two gold medals, at the 2015 ACC Championships.

Twelve of the thirteen ACC schools that sponsor women’s swimming and diving are represented on the All-Academic Team, led by Virginia with eight student-athletes. NC State and Pitt have six apiece, while Florida State and Louisville have five representatives. Duke has four, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Notre Dame have three, followed by Clemson, Miami and Virginia Tech with two each.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
