Ten Conference Teams Ranked in Nation’s Top 50; Play Begins Friday
Greensboro, N.C. -- The team pairings are set for the opening round of the 62nd annual ACC Men’s Golf Championship, which will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 24-26, over the 7,102-yard, par-72 course at the Old North State Country Club in New London, N.C.
Notre Dame, Boston College, and NC State begin the championship on Friday teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Duke, Louisville, and Virginia Tech are in the next wave at 9:30, followed by Clemson, Wake Forest, and Virginia at 10:30 a.m. Florida State, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina have the morning’s final tee time at 11:30 a.m.
ACC Men’s Golf Championship - First Round Pairings
8:30 - 9:10 a.m. = Notre Dame, Boston College, NC State
9:30 - 10:10 a.m. = Duke, Louisville, Virginia Tech
10:30 - 11:10 a.m. = Clemson, Wake Forest, Virginia
11:30 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. = North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State
Georgia Tech, ranked No. 11 according to Golfstat enters as the defending champion and will try to repeat against a field that features five teams in the top 30 in Golfstat rankings: No. 1 Florida State, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 23 Wake Forest, and No. 28 Virginia.
Florida State’s Jack Maguire enters the tournament as the highest ranked golfer according to Golfstat at No. 7, while Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans is the highest in Golfweek at No. 9.
2015 marks the 14th-straight year and 30th time overall that the league championship will be held at the Old North State Country Club. Wake Forest leads all schools with 18 league titles and 22 individual champions. Georgia Tech, which has won 13 outright ACC Championships and shared two more, has produced 10 individual medalists, including Schniederjans, last year’s winner. North Carolina is third with 11 titles (10 outright), followed by Clemson with nine (eight outright).
The tournament will be carried on ESPN3 from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. There is no charge for admission.
