14 ACC Rowers Named to the 2016 CRCA All-Region Team

Greensboro, N.C.—The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) named 14 Atlantic Coast Conference rowers to its 2016 All-Region Three Rowing team, including nine of the 13 first-team All-Region honorees.

Virginia, which finished third nationally at the NCAA Championships, led the way with five All-Region honorees, including four first-team selections and one second-team honoree. Duke, which finished 17th in its first NCAA Championship appearance, had three rowers selected. Syracuse, which finished 13th at the NCAAs, and Notre Dame, which ended the year ranked 18th nationally, each had two selections, while Louisville and Miami each place one selection on the team.

Five ACC rowers were repeat members to the All-Region Three team with Virginia’s Sam Casto,  Notre Dame’s Joanna Mulvey,  Syracuse’s Deidre Fitzpatrick and Virginia coxswain Colette Lucas-Conwell the only rowers to be named to the first-team in each year. 

Virginia’s Georgia Ratcliff was a second-team All-Region selection in 2015 and was named a first-team honoree this year.
