Lauren Perdue is a gold medalist. The Greenville native and 2009 J.H. Rose graduate earned a gold medal Wednesday afternoon for her role on the U.S. 4x200-meter women's freestyle relay team.

Perdue, a first-time Olympian, has enjoyed getting to bond with the other American swimmers. "I have gotten so close with the swim team these past few weeks and I have the amazing opportunity to be teammates with individuals who I have looked up to as role models since I was a young swimmer,"

At Angelo Taylor's mothers house in Decatur Tuesday night it was like a scene out of the movie "Home Alone". Ten family members were busily packing for the trip to London to watch Angelo perform in the 400 meter hurdles.

Angelo Taylor is trying to be the first 400 meter hurdler to win three gold medals, surpassing the legendary Edwin Moses.

They are Paige Selinski of Dallas and Keli Smith Puzo, who was born and raised in Selinsgrove.
