The United States captured its first medal ever in a synchronized diving event Sunday as Duke's Abby Johnston paired with Kelci Bryant to earn silver in the women's 3-meter synchronized competition. Johnston, a first-time Olympian, also claimed Duke's first medal of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Nick McCrory will try to make it 2-for-2 for Duke divers in the Olympics Monday, hoping for a medal just like his fellow Blue Devil Abby Johnston earned Sunday.
McCrory and his synchronized partner David Boudia will take six dives Monday afternoon into the Olympic pool. They will leap off the 10-meter board, reaching close to 35 mph on impact after an acrobatic series of twists and flips.

Cullen Jones won a silver medal as the third leg of the men's 4x100 free relay...
..."In 2008 I wanted to be a major factor on the relay and I felt like this year I really stepped up and did that," Jones said.
"I think we all swam amazing races. The only thing going through my mind was 'you're not catching me, you're not catching me.' I was really happy with my performance and it's really setting me up great for the 100."

On Sunday, Diogu and Nigeria kept the Cinderella story rolling when D'Tigers won their first-ever Olympic game, beating Tunisia, 60-56. Diogu finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Former Georgia Tech star Alade Aminu (whose brother, Hornets forward Al-Farouq Aminu, also plays for Nigeria) had 15 points and nine rebounds.
"It was our first-ever win at the Olympic Games so it has to be a historic day for us," Diogu said.

Reuben Ross is hoping to make his biggest splash in what might be the final competition of an accomplished diving career...
...Ross developed his passion for the sport as a member of the Regina Diving Club. He proceeded to spend one year at the University of Alberta before accepting a scholarship offer from Miami. He excelled for the Miami Hurricanes at the NCAA level while progressing to the point where he qualified to represent Canada at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
