The U.S. women's soccer team fell behind in Monday's semifinal Olympics match against rival Canada, but the battle of north vs. south ultimately went to the U.S., which scored a 4-3 victory in a game with Basking Ridge's Tobin Heath filling a solid spot as midfielder.

Defiant and defensive, Mike Krzyzewski hardly sounded like he coaches the best team in the world. He's tired of the criticisms of the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team, fed up with questions about why it isn't as easy for the Americans as it used to be. For more than 13 minutes Tuesday, Krzyzewski fought back against every notion that his squad should never dare find itself in a close game.

Now it's time for his players to answer for themselves.

Murielle Ahoure isn't easily recognizable as one of a number of former D.C. products in this year's Summer Olympics. The first reason may be that she's racing for Ivory Coast, the country where she was born before relocating first to France then the U.S. when she was a teenager.

In the 200, she won her preliminary heat with a time of 22.55 and finished second in her semifinal heat (22.49) to qualify for Wednesday's final.

One of the more amusing personal Twitter pictures from Great Britain players during the Games showed Deng, former NBA forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu and ex-Arizona State center Eric Boateng posing for a photograph with the 5-foot-9 British track gold medalist Mo Farah.
