Goldberg: Big Boys Month Continues

Nov. 18, 1999

By Mike Goldberg,
ACC LIVE host

As Big Boys Month continues, no football game has larger ramifications than Florida/Florida State. The winner of this game will certainly be playing January 4th, 2000 for College Football's ultimate prize in the Sugar Bowl. The last time the Seminoles won in the Swamp was 1993, that was the year that Charlie Ward led Florida State to its only national championship. While this is the ultimate weekend in the Sunshine State, there are numerous key games this Saturday.

As I stated Monday night on ACC Live, if this were the NCAA tournament, we would be calling Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest and Maryland "bubble teams." Virginia should be fine, Georgia Tech has new BCS aspirations and Florida State wants their trip to New Orleans.

Some brilliant careers are nearing their conclusion: Jamie Barnette, Joe Hamilton, Peter Warrick and Thomas Jones head a list which is long and distinguished. We congratulate all the great athletes who have given us, the ACC fans, so much during their collegiate careers.

Monday night on ACC LIVE, Jack Corrigan and I get serious once again about Total ACCess into ACC Football. In addition, the live file focuses on the Women's Volleyball Tournament and our intensive ACC hoops coverage continues as most teams have now opened the 1999-2000 season.

This weekend, rivalry weekend is as special as any in college sports, so sit back, relax and enjoy it, and when you're ready for the most incredible ACCess anywhere of the Atlantic Coast Conference, tune in Monday night at 7:00 pm, as we hope as always do, to ACC Live.

SEE YOU MONDAY NIGHT!!!

P.S. -- Did you know Army Head Basketball Coach Pat Harris was Coach K's first point guard at West Point? Army and Duke play on HTS at 5pm on Saturday!!!
