Sept. 5, 2008
"Beyond the ACCtion" is a special feature of theACC.com which offers insight in to the Atlantic Coast Conference, away from the field of competition.
WOW! What a busy few weeks we have had here at theACC.com! This time of year is always busy, but it has been taken to a new level in 2008. We have so many projects going on, it's making my head spin!
Then I thought about you, our loyal viewers. If I can barely keep track of it all, then you are probably missing out on some of the great opportunities available at theACC.com.
So, today I am taking you "Beyond the ACCtion" on a quick tour of theACC.com's features - some old, some new and some just sporting a new look.
- The "This Week in ACC Football" portal is the new look for the site's football central. All of the information on a particular game can be found on this page prior to the game. On Saturday (or Thursday where applicable), the page is updated with scores and links to complete game stories.
- New this year is a "This Week in ACC Football" video. Available each Wednesday evening, the weekly video looks back at the previous week and ahead to upcoming games. The video can be seen on the "This Week in ACC Football" site or as a free element on ACC Select. (Click on the video player in the top right-hand corner.)
- Also new this year is a weekly e-newsletter for "This Week in ACC Football". Sent each Wednesday evening, this is a great way to stay informed on ACC Football. Click here to view a sample and get added to the list.
In-game, real-time statistics for ACC football and men's basketball are getting "Jacked" this season. Jacked brings information that was previously spread out across the Internet into one central location in real time, when you want to see it. For links to upcoming Jacked events, look for the "Get Jacked" graphic or visit the Jacked site on theACC.com.
TheACC.com is continuing its series of columnists and weekly features. Bill Hass has already returned with "Bill Hass on the ACC" and Jim Sumner will return soon with his historical column "Looking Back..." This year, MFS Investment Management presents "Getting to Know", a weekly question and answer introduction to ACC student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
A brand-new audio feature joining theACC.com this year is the ACC Weekend Watch from ISP. Each week host Andy Demetra previews the week's top match-ups, key storylines and noteworthy statistics, highlighting all of the season's sports. (Click here to listen to this week's edition.)
ACC Select recently launched its new look. The broadband network, which offers live and on-demand webcasts of league games and other features highlighting the ACC's teams, is now a partnership between Raycom Sports and the Atlantic Coast Conference with CBS College Sports. While the look has changed, ACC Select will still serve as the online home to more than 450 live events including ACC Championships coverage. (Click here for more information.)
The ACC Online Store celebrated a grand reopening this week. The store is now being managed by TeamFanShop, a company that specializes in online stores, selling officially licensed merchandise of college and pro teams. This new relationship will expand the store's offerings for Conference and ACC member school merchandise, plus $4.99, 3-day shipping on every purchase. (Shop Now!)
The ACC Photo Store is also still in business. The store is the home for ACC Championships photos, but fans can also purchase select photographs from the Associated Press in the online photo galleries. During football season, there will be a weekly photo gallery of that week's action, so make sure to check out what is available from your favorite team's game. (Click here to view the latest photo galleries or Browse the ACC Photo Store.)
See what I mean? There is a lot going on here at theACC.com. I hope this quick tour helps you make the most of this year and fully enjoy everything the Atlantic Coast Conference and theACC.com have to offer.
