ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford comments on the passing of former Wake Forest president Thomas K. Hearn, Jr.:
“Tom Hearn was a visionary leader whose insights, values and courage were admired and appreciated by so many of us in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the NCAA. He was a champion of doing things the “right way” in college athletics. His influence on our conference, the Knight Commission, and collegiate sports in general, was very significant. I cherished the friendship we developed and he will be missed by many of us who were fortunate enough to work with him through the ACC.”
