Tom C. Haney, M.D.

Dr. Tom C. Haney started practicing orthopedics in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1975 following his orthopedic residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Ga. He co-founded the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic. He has been a team physician for Florida State University since 1975. He was the Tallahassee Medical Liaison for the British Olympic Association 1993-1996. He is an assistant clinical professor in health sciences at FSU School of Medicine. His memberships include American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Arthroscopy Association. of North America, and the Florida Governor's Council for Physical Fitness and Sports. He is a past chairman for the FSU Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Josh D. Hingst, CSCS

Josh Hingst is in his second year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Florida State. Not only is Josh a certified strength and conditioning specialist, he is to graduate this month with his masters degree in clinical nutrition with an emphasis in sports nutrition. He started in strength and conditioning while he was completing his undergraduate degree in nutrition at the University of Nebraska. Currently , Josh works with the football, baseball, and men's golf student-athletes at FSU. He is involved in research in dietary supplement use in collegiate athletes.

Sam Lunt, ATC/L, MS

Sam Lunt is in his 21st year of athletic training at Florida State. With an undergraduate degree in athletic training from the University of Miami and a masters degree in sport psychology from Florida State, Sam is the Associate Director of Sportsmedicine at FSU. He is a NATA BOC certified athletic trainer. He serves as the head athletic trainer for men's basketball as well as overseeing all men's Olympic sports at FSU. In 2003, he was chosen Professional Outreach Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Florida Athletic Trainers Association.

Kris D. Sowers, M.D.

Dr. Kris D. Sowers has been a team physician at Florida State since 1990. A graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Sowers is board certified in family medicine along with a certificate of added qualification on sports medicine. His medical experience in athletics is widespread with participation in club gymnastics, Special Olympics, Junior Olympics, and the British Olympic team. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Practice. He has won several teaching awards in the family medicine residency program in Tallahassee. On a personal note, Dr. Sowers is an ordained minister.

Bryan W. Smith, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP

Bryan is the medical consultant for the Atlantic Coast Conference and the editor of the ACC Sports Sciences website. Prior to his duties for the ACC, Dr. Smith was the Head Team Physician at the University of North Carolina for nearly ten years. He has authored approximately fifty scholarly articles and given more than sixty -five invited scholarly lectures. He sits on the editorial board for the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, is a contributing editor for Sports Medicine in Primary Care, and for the past four years has been a regular contributor to the American College of Sports Medicine's Fit Society Page. A pediatrician with a doctorate in exercise physiology, Dr Smith is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He has served as the medical consultant to the NCAA Football Rules Committee, served on the NCAA Baseball Research Panel, and has been a past chairman of the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports. Currently, Dr. Smith is a member of the United States Lacrosse Sports Science Committee and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society's Sports Medicine Committee.
